FAQs : How the Web Development Process Works

Step 1: Analysis

We will discuss your specific needs, including the current function and direction of your company (and current website if applicable).
During this discovery process, we will request examples of what website styles you prefer to determine the "image" you would like to build or maintain.
We will also request names and web addresses of your competitors to ensure an industry-appropriate design that will work best for your business.
We will gather any written requirements for the site design/redesign/enhancement.
Any ongoing maintenance needs will be identified and discussed.

Step 2: Prototyping

First, we will create several prototypes (samples) that are most effective for your company. You may choose one of these or a combination of the samples. If none of the initial prototypes are to your liking, we will use them as a discussion point for a second set of prototypes.
If the project is a redesign, we will also provide a proposed new organization for the site, called a “mapping”.
At this point, we recommend that you show the final prototypes to a select few, whose unbiased opinions you respect.
We will request final approval on the organization, mapping, and hierarchy of all pages, if applicable.

Step 3: Development

Once we receive final approval from you to proceed, we will begin working on the site itself.
We will build out a few pages, to show how the site will function. We will again request approval from you before working to complete the rest of the site.
Periodically, during development, we will send you the status with links to the website.
During and after development we will make sure your site functions the same all major Internet browsers and that the site is optimized for 800x600 resolution or greater.
Upon site completion, the entire site will undergo a quality review, with site-wide checks for spelling errors, grammatical errors, consistency, and navigation problems.

Step 4: Release

Although the site will undergo a strict quality review by our staff, we also encourage you and your team to review the site, to verify that everything is in place. Once satisfied, you will give us sign off on the site. We ask you not to do this until you are happy enough to recommend us to your business associates.
The website is now launched!
